You can't keep a Dumesny kid down

You can't keep a good kid down!

After a bone-jarring wreck in his qualifying run last Saturday night at Valvoline Raceway teenage third generation racer Marcus Dumesny is headed to Murray Machining & Sheds Speedway undeterred this weekend.

"Mouse (crew chief Darryl Green) and I worked hard on repairing the car and we load up tomorrow to head over to Murray Bridge," says the laid back USC Sprintcar rising star, "we had to cut the front of the car off and put a new clip on it but she's ready to go."

Marcus took full responsibility for the accident which sadly ended his night not long after it started.

"I just pitched it in too early," he conceded, "I knew the tyre (tractor tyre corner kerb marker) was there and I almost got it the lap earlier. Then I got it the next time around unfortunately. I'm just sorry for my team and my Dad for the damage and the effort it's taken to get us back on track."

Remarkably the #47 is ready to rock again and the affable 18 year old is saddling back up for the trip across the Hay Plains for this Saturday night' Battle of the Bridge Bill Wigzell event incorporating the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship SA Round One.

"I like Murray Bridge," he says, "we've gone well there in he past, actually all of us Dumesnys have. I'm keen to get back there in my own car and have a crack."

It's been a busy last couple of weeks for Marcus and the Dumesny Racing Team with a recent hot lap for triple Bathurst winner Garth Tander in the youngest Dumesny's car.

"He went really well in my girl (his car)," explains Marcus, "considering it was only a really short practice stint he was really smooth. I hope he can do it again in the future."

This Saturday night however Dumesny is focused solely on the USC SA event and with a crack field of SA and interstate stars on hand he'll be a busy boy.

A field of 26 drivers are set to do “battle” in Bill Wigzell's honour with the entry list including two current USC Champions, USC NSW Champion Robbie Farr and the defending USC SA and Wigzell Race Champion Luke Dillon.

In addition to the “Ultimate Champs” the line-up comprises several high-quality drivers with the likes of local stars Brad Keller, Ryan Jones, Matt Egel, Aidan Hall, Jake Tranter, Brock Hallett and Steven Caruso set to take on a tough interstate contingent.

The interstate charge will be led by Scott Darley Champion Shaun Dobson (TAS), seventeen year old third generation Sydney racer Jesse Attard (NSW), Tim Hutchins (TAS) and West Australian Aldo DePaoli.

The format for the night will include qualifying in hot laps prior to the heat races, a B-Main and a 30-lap final.

Along with the Sprintcars the event will also feature the Wingless Sprints, Street Stocks and a Demolition Derby.
